Recently, a relocating couple asked me to take care of their cat during the moving process. For work reasons, they were moving out to the east coast. While movers were going to take care of the larger furniture pieces, this couple was still going to drive a rental truck out to their new place themselves.
It wouldn’t have been safe or comfortable for the cat to go along. So the kitty stayed here in the Chicago area until they could make a return trip to get her.
This family was able to make these arrangements because they trusted Detour Services. By doing it this way, they were able to take advantage of some cost-cutting options while at the same time, they looked after the health and well-being of their cat.

It’s getting close to that time of year again. Many businesses go all-hands-on-deck to complete the end-of-year inventory count. Sometimes, they even close down shop in order to get it all done.
Could a couple of extra helpers make the process less painful? Why not give Detour Services a call to reserve your inventory count date?

Restaurant clubs are a lot of fun. You get a regular night out with friends. You get to try new foods. You get to learn more about where you live. I hear about these goals so often from busy people. With a restaurant club, you can achieve all of them in one fell swoop.
How does a restaurant club work?
On a designated night, you and your friends gather at a chosen restaurant. Your table has been reserved. All your special requests have been communicated and taken care of. There’s nothing left to do except talk, enjoy each other’s company, and figure out if you have a new favorite place to eat.
Restaurant clubs are a great way to stay connected with your social circles. It’s all too easy to lose track of friends and back out on invitations because work is too hectic and you’re just too tired. A regular social event like a restaurant club helps you recharge and keeps you connected.
The problem is—someone has to plan all this. Someone has to pick a restaurant and propose it, keep track of who is coming, make the reservation, and send out the final details.
That’s where a personal assistant can come in. Why not let your assistant keep track of restaurant openings and reviews? Let him or her call ahead with questions. Is there parking? Is it BYOB? Are there vegetarian options?
Once a place is decided, your assistant can handle the rest—from invitations to reservations. You and your friends can just show up and enjoy.

Did you know that all the information you backed up on those CDs and DVDs are not preserved forever? The ink on the shiny side of the discs degrades. When it goes, so does your information.
The high-quality Japanese disc manufacturing plants are all but gone. The market is filled with lower quality product from cheaper manufacturing options.
The rule of thumb used to be to burn a new backup every four to five years. With your especially sensitive or precious information though, you’ll probably want to beat that timetable by a mile.
Copying your CDs and DVDs is another one of those time intensive necessities that is easily outsourced to a personal assistant.
