A new traditional launches in its place, and it should be just as fun, chaotic, interesting, and warm.

A $10 suggested donation will cover all three days of the event.

“A Businessman Isn’t A Mathematician”

Posted by Marie on August 14, 2010

I came across this paragraph in a book I’m currently reading and thought I’d share. It made me smile in amusement, but there is also wisdom in here.

You must always know when to pull out. A businessman isn’t a mathematician. Remember that. Never become hypnotized by the beauty of numbers. A businessman is someone who buys at ten and is happy to get out at twelve. The other kind of man buys at ten, sees it rise to eighteen and does nothing. He is waiting for it to get to twenty. The beauty of numbers. When it drops to ten again he waits for it to get back to eighteen. When it drops to two he waits for it to get back to ten. Well, it gets back there. But he has wasted a quarter of his life. And all he’s got out of his money is a little mathematical excitement.

A Focus Change for the Detour Services Blog

Posted by Marie on July 31, 2010

Detour Services personal assistants for Chicago's entrepreneursYes, this blog has sat untended for quite a long time now. I’ve been quite lucky to be so busy this year, but all that work does make it harder to be diligent to this medium.

To remedy that, I’m changing the focus of this blog site. You’re going to see a lot more news about what I’m doing and what my clients are doing. Along the way, I hope to continue adding tips about organization, business administration, and entrepreneurship.

I think this shift is going to work so much better for everyone. If you’re seeing this, thanks for coming back!
