As of today, Detour Services has been in business for three whole years! To commemorate this success and my own personal growth, I am taking on the title of Small Business Specialist and adding, on an official level, small business consulting to Detour’s offerings.
When I come on board, it is rare that the scope of my work remains only on the initial project. Usually, I become a sounding board and a discussion partner.
Running a small business can be an isolating endeavor. Oh, sure, the resources are out there, but the time to access them may not be. Trustworthy peers can also be hard to find.
In these instances, someone like me, a fellow small business owner and someone with experience in a wide variety of fields and tasks, can be so valuable. Why not give me a call to see what I can offer?

Mike Venezia and George Berlin have teamed up to create a series of (mostly) picture books that feature their brand of creatively wacky illustrations.
The first book in the series, Ways To Get Around, focuses on all manners of transportation and travel. Yes, “bare feet” is covered but so too is “bear feet.”
The details and humor inside are going to keep the adults entertained even as the art and imagination delight their kids.

Yes, this blog has sat untended for quite a long time now. I’ve been quite lucky to be so busy this year, but all that work does make it harder to be diligent to this medium.
To remedy that, I’m changing the focus of this blog site. You’re going to see a lot more news about what I’m doing and what my clients are doing. Along the way, I hope to continue adding tips about organization, business administration, and entrepreneurship.
I think this shift is going to work so much better for everyone. If you’re seeing this, thanks for coming back!

I love calendars and planners in January. There are so many empty days and plenty of space in which to plan and dream.
The news keeps screaming that 2010 is the year of growth and recovery. Regardless of whether this is truth or fiction, opportunities are always out there.
